The learning toolkit helps individuals and businesses access the knowledge they need to progress and grow. In these challenging times, we are supporting employers by providing details of skills resources that will help develop a resilient workforce.
The skills providers that we partner with are adapting their quality provision to deliver what is needed to respond to the current crisis. There is now a range of learning resources and short courses to support the various challenges that you may be facing. Many of which are free.

Learning toolkit resources and courses
North Yorkshire Adult Learning and Skills Service (ALSS)
The ALSS are offering a range of online resources to support wellbeing. You can find more information and keep up to date via its Facebook page or at the North Yorkshire County Council adult learning page.
York & North Yorkshire Growth Hub are running a series of free webinars offering reskilling and upskilling solutions in response to the current challenges impacting business.
Skills Support for the Workforce delivered by Calderdale College and delivery partners
Skills Support for the Workforce can help your business reach its potential through free qualifications and training for adults in York, North Yorkshire & East Riding. They are continuing to deliver flexibly through-out the lockdown period via online training. SSW can support employed staff who have been furloughed under continuous professional development.
All training delivered through Skills Support for the Workforce is fully funded by the European Union and Educations & Skills Funding Agency with no cost to the employer or participant.

York College
Coronavirus is having a huge impact on many organisations but York College are working to support businesses and their staff develop. They are delivering a range of virtual and online programmes and modules, and will continue to update this list of programmes.

York Learning have adapted its offer to support businesses through the challenges of Covid-19. They bring a selection of courses and services which can be delivered remotely to flexible timescales. Teeside University
Teeside University are offering a free COVID-19 support package that can help businesses to adapt during these challenging times.

CIPD
CIPD is offering a range of online modules and resources to support employers, which can be accessed here.
Digital Boost
Digital Boost is a free service to help charities and small businesses get the essential digital skills they need. They match organisations in need with digital experts to offer one to one conversations and practical webinars for free. Make it York
Make it York have created a Skills Hub with an overview of a range of opportunities available. In additional to local offerings showcased on our own toolkit pages, they also detail wider regional and national provision.
Skills Support for the Unemployed
Delivered by McCrory Training, the programme supports unemployed York, North Yorkshire and East Riding residents to develop their skills, and move into meaningful employment, apprenticeship/traineeship or further learning.
Eligibility checks are required. You must be aged 16+ and unemployed or economically inactive and not in any other education or training.
Pre employment training can be offered via online distance learning in: warehousing; cleaning; team leading; health and social care; hospitality; retail; business administration; and customer services.

Quantum Vantage
Quantum Vantage have gone virtual. Even if you are furloughed, you can still take the time to refocus and work on your personal and professional development.
North Yorkshire Adult Learning and Skills Service (ALSS)

Learners will need to complete an enrolment form. You need to live in North Yorkshire and have been aged 19 as of the 31.8.2019.
York College
York College are delivering a package of learning modules to support individuals to up skill, refresh their skills or start to reskill.
There is a wide range of course content including; accounting and finance; education and childcare; personal development and employability.

Selby College
Selby College has a range of distance learning courses to support CPD and upskilling.
Courses are free subject to the eligibility criteria being met by the learner and the course being completed online.
The range of distance learning courses can be accessed by anyone over the age of 19. Courses are delivered by the use of workbooks and range of online assessments, with support and robust feedback by the tutor throughout the course.
Functional skills, such as English, Maths and Introductory Computing programmes can also be mostly completed by distance.

Government digital learning during lockdown
Adults at home during the coronavirus lockdown can access online courses in digital and numeracy skills.
The Department for Education has released a range of job-related online courses, teaching numeracy, coding and internet skills. The Open University and Google are among the providers.
The training is focused on improving skills for online jobs, in the expectation more people will be working remotely. Further information can be found here.

UK Learns
UK Learns in an online portal with over 400 courses that can help kickstart careers stalled by the global pandemic. There are a wide range of course options, many courses are free of charge, some for a limited period. New courses and functionality are added every day. Skills Support for the Workforce delivered by Calderdale College and delivery partners
If you have been made redundant (within the last three months) and are residing within the York, North Yorkshire or East Riding region you may be eligible for free support through the European Social Fund to support you to brush you up on existing skills or re-skill in a new area to gain employment.
