DWP: Supporting Employers in York & North Yorkshire with the Kickstart Scheme

16 Jul 2021

FREE online event: 16 July, 10 – 11am | Organised by the Department of Work & Pensions (DWP)

About this event

COVID-19 has significantly impacted businesses, the economy, and the employment prospects of thousands of young people. There is Government support available for business to help reduce the damaging and long-term scarring effects of unemployment. The Department of Work & Pensions (DWP) are holding a virtual event to show you how your business could play a part in helping a generation of young people.

DWP want to develop local opportunities for young people through the Kickstart Scheme, by working closely with local businesses to provide fully-funded jobs for 16-24 year olds on Universal Credit. This Kickstart event will provide you with important information direct from organisations who are already successfully using the scheme.

Speakers

Joining the DWP and speaking at this event will be:

  • Jodie Dyer, Kickstart Project Lead from North Yorkshire Hospice Care, who will talk about her experience of recruiting Kickstart opportunities within her organisation and the fantastic overall experience and the quality of candidates
  • Keeley Metcalf, from North Yorkshire County Council, will discuss the role of a Gateway organisation, which can support a business when applying for jobs in the Kickstart Scheme
  • Dave Walkington, Operational Leader from the DWP, will show how the Kickstart Scheme has had a positive impact on young people and the benefit of the scheme to local businesses

There will be an opportunity for you to put forward questions to the panellists.
