How to create accessible social media content : Harrogate Business Support Programme

15 Nov 2022

This fully funded workshop with Ellen Cole of Little Seed Group will look at how organisations understand how to improve the accessibility of their social media content. With 80% of disabled people and those with invisible differences not being able to easily access organisations’ social media channels, the event will go through the basics of what social media accessibility is, the impacts and challenges for organisations when tackling this area, and how it can be improved.

At the same venue in the morning we will also be hosting a session on LinkedIn, and we invite businesses to attend both events as part of a day focusing on social media.

Tuesday 15th November, 1:00pm-3:00pm, Harrogate Civic Centre

What does the programme deliver?

The 2010 Equality Act states that providers of services need to take steps to make their communications accessible, including on social media.

Evidence currently available shows that over 80% of disabled people and those with invisible differences cannot easily access organisations’ social media channels. Many cite that accessibility is possible, however, the content needs to be modified.

During this event, Ellen will help you to better understand:

  • What social media accessibility is
  • The impact that inaccessibility can have on your organisation
  • The challenges users face on your social media channels
  • How to improve social media accessibility

This training event is ideal for organisations that genuinely want to create greater accessibility and are committed to making changes to improve inclusion and diversity both in and out of their organisation for disabled people and those with invisible differences.
