What does the programme deliver?
In this seminar, Philip Bolson will discuss the four things that his experience tells him every hospitality business must obsess about. While some call this a “triple bottom line” strategy, for Philip it is about understanding what you need to do every day to be able to deliver an outcome – the outcome being commercial performance / success. Businesses often superficially talk about all the 4 things, but most don’t or get the balance wrong.
In this session, there will be a summary of each of the 4:
- Your relationship with your existing and potential team
- Your reputation
- Your results
Each one leads to the next and without one you significantly reduce the chances of success. Small businesses often think they are different and that they don’t need structure or a plan, but we know that not only is business is tough – it is going to get tougher. Therefore, we need a plan, a plan that provide a structure; to confirm what we know, what we are doing well, what we don’t know, and what we need to do better.
Join Philip at this interactive event aimed at General Managers and Owners where you will develop your own action plan based on the 4 essential elements. There will also be the opportunity for some to apply for additional hours of coaching and consultancy where you will explore these essential elements further.

Philip Bolson owns Mr B Hospitality, a business that exists to help Yorkshire Hospitality be brilliant. The business was set up in 2020 after 30 years in the sector where he has worked with and learnt from some of the best in Hospitality across the UK.
Philip has worked in both General and Regional management roles with businesses such as Whitbread and Travelodge through to being the General Manager of the 5 Star Grand Hotel in York. At the Grand he oversaw a £15m development including the addition of 100 bedrooms, and the development and opening of both the Grand cookery school and Rise Restaurant.
Along the way he has been a landlord, Area Manager for Greggs, UK & Ireland Operations Director for the Wyndham Hotel Group, Operations Director roles with the Management Company Redefine BDL and Splendid Hospitality, owner of a Lodge on the outskirts of York, and M.D. of the Lake District Hotel Group.
Philip also sits on the York & North York Leadership Group advising on Hospitality, a subject of which he is an active advocate across the Region – the businesses and those who work in them.
